5 Maryland Event Venues for Your Next Party

The state of Maryland is home to an eclectic variety of beautiful beaches, parks, and scenic views. There is a location for anyone and everyone interested in hosting a party complete with kayaking, swimming, boating and beyond. It can be tough to pick Maryland event venues if you don’t know anything about them, and there are quite a few! So, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite Maryland parks and attractions for you to explore this season.

1. Quiet Waters Park

Quiet Waters is a beautiful park located between the South River and Harness Creek. The park’s amenities include trails, a children’s playground, and picnics among acres of scenic parkland. In addition, visitors can rent a bike, canoe, or kayak and explore the beauty of Harness Creek. As for event hosting, Quiet Waters has six outdoor pavilions that are perfect for company picnics, birthday parties, graduation parties or celebrations.

The park also has three private locations for holding special occasions, like weddings. The South River Overlook is a beautiful location, situated right on the scenic South River. Also, the James Lighthizer Gazebo is a wonderous setting that sits on the edge of a pond. The third location, The Blue Heron Center, is an indoor facility that is perfect for holding both your ceremony and reception.

2. Sandy Point State Park

Sandy Point State Park offers swimming, fishing, and boating on the shores of the Chesapeake. This 786-acre park features a large beach, boat ramps, marina and a great view of the Bay Bridge. Not to mention, you can bring your pets during particular seasons throughout the year.

If you would like to host an event, such as family reunions and group picnics, a private outdoor picnic experience is available. Sandy Point has twelve rental shelters; nine shelters accommodate up to 140 people and one shelter accommodates up to 300 people. The shelters also include picnic tables, grills, and limited electrical receptacles.

3. Mayo Beach Park

Mayo Beach Park sits at the end of the South River and the Chesapeake Bay. The rustic and environmentally sensitive park is available for nonprofit organizations, weddings, receptions, cultural exhibits, company picnics and family reunions. Further, the park features a Bay View Pavilion, a glass-enclosed pavilion with amazing views that seats 225 people.

4. The Royer House in Westminster

The Royer House, located in Westminster, Maryland, is available for your wedding, reception, or any memorable event. The countryside mansion was renovated in the 1980’s and has elements of modern and antique charm, and comfortably accommodates 150+ guests. And, just outside out of Washington, DC, and Baltimore, the scenic countryside views make The Royer House the ideal location for a rustic style wedding.

5. Annapolis Maritime Museum

The small Annapolis museum is located at the mouth of Back Creek, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. The museum takes visitors on an interactive experience that explores the history and impact of the oyster on Annapolis’ culture. Furthermore, the museum offers guided tours, scheduled lectures, and educational activities for children and adults.

Bonus Place: If you are interested in going a little further than Maryland, try GoggleWorks Center for the Arts in Reading, Pennsylvania. Indeed, GoggleWorks is an art and community center, located inside a remodeled factory. So, take the whole family and enjoy a day filled with art exhibits, artist demonstrations, and classes.
